Detectives are appealing for witnesses following what appeared to be two back-to-back incidents in Ruddington Village Centre last week.
Customers and staff at Ruddington Fish Bar watched in some bemusement as the first early evening fracas unfolded on Thursday (3rd February) at just after 6pm. Owner Demetrios Lawton told RUDDINGTON.info: “Police are everywhere!” speculating that it could a ‘domestic’, or possibly ‘road rage’. Around an hour later he added: “There is another one now, in the middle of Church Street! It seems to be a totally different incident.” Officers who attended subsequently obtained CCTV footage from the area before leaving the scene.
A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman confirms: “Officers were called to High Street, Ruddington, at around 6.51pm on Thursday 3rd February following reports of an altercation between two women who are believed to have been visiting the area. Nobody was arrested and no injuries were reported.” Anyone who saw what happened is now being asked to call 101 quoting incident 635 of 3rd February to help police with their enquiries into a potential public order offence.
This incident followed a relatively quiet start to 2022 – with only seven crimes reported in Ruddington via 101 or online for the whole month, from 1st January – 31st January 2022:
7th January – An unknown offender slashed the tyres of a Blue Ford Tourneo Connect on Fuller Street.
8th January – A caller reported a burglary sometime between 17:00 hours 08/01/22 and 15:00 hours 12/01/22. The double glazed panel was removed from a small side window to gain entry, the house was searched and items taken.
14th January – Unknown offenders forced entry to a shed and a number of items were taken.
14th January – Theft of a bike by an unknown offender between 17:00 hours and 22:00 hours 14/01/2022. The bicycle was chained securely outside Ruddington Fish Bar.
20th January – An unknown offender entered rear garden of home address and gained entry into the hut and stole items from within.
22nd January – An unknown offender drove in to the Loughborough Road petrol station, filled the vehicle with fuel to the value of £71.31 and then drove off without attempting to make payment.
25th January – Unknown offenders attempted to gain entry via the open bathroom window of a property, causing some damage in the process.
Police also reported some success during the month – after three suspected thieves were caught and detained on January 6th following the theft of a van from Ruddington.
